This tour takes you on a journey to explore not only the most captivating white roads "strade bianche"
in the Marche region, but also the rich history and artistic heritage of the ancient city of Urbino,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Renaissance significance.
From the rolling hills and historic streets of the Marche region,
this cycling tour offers an authentic experience of Italian culture,
landscapes, and traditions.
Based in the heart of Urbino,
a UNESCO World Heritage city and Renaissance jewel,
riders explore scenic strade bianche (white roads),
peaceful rural landscapes, and remote unpaved routes,
while savoring simple yet excellent local food and wine.
The tour highlights the region’s respect for tradition, the joy of shared meals,
and the slow pace of life, making each day a journey of discovery,
well-being, and timeless Italian heritage an experience equally rich for non cycling
companions with museums, cathedrals, and hiking routes nearby.
Gravel Art crosses center Italy in Urbino on a moderate difficulty route, starting in the area of Riccione, in the heart of its most authentic beaches and finishing in the beautiful Pesaro, surrounded by iconic landscapes.
The trip lasts a total of 8 days, with 6 days dedicated to cycling,
covering 427 km and total elevation of 11195 m.
DATES: April 25 - May 2 2026.
PRICE: 2250 euros + 70 euro supplement for single occupancy.
Start your adventure with a complimentary transfer from Bologna Airport to our beautiful hotel in the middle of the ancient city of Urbino. Before dinner we will take a stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets and enjoy a traditional Aperol Spritz in one of the numerous bars around the main square.
From day one of your Italian cycling adventure, you will be immersed in the warm
and joyful atmosphere of Marche region. Today's route involves cycling along the
dusty roads of the Raffaello Gravel course, a special route designed for the Gravel
event in this region. These green, rolling hills were once ruled by the Montefeltro,
one of the most powerful families in the region. As we ride, you will be able to
admire a variety of medieval villages surrounding the main city of Urbino.
KM 65 - MI 40 | MT 1460 - FT 4790
Today we point our wheels towards the Adriatic Sea. Our destination is the
romantic region of Romagna, with its warm hospitality and joyful, carefree
attitude toward life. Italians are very proud of their history and heritage.
So while we sip our morning cappuccino in picturesque Saludecio village,
known as Il Balcone del Mare Adriatico (The Balcony of the Adriatic Sea),
you will hear about the infamous Malatesta Family, and their struggles for
power and love with the rivals, the Montefeltro Family during the Middle Ages.
The return route will be up and down, as we make our way through a mix of
white gravel and tarmac roads.
KM 67 - MI 41 | MT 1572 - FT 5160
Today we will ride through the spectacular Furlo Canyon, also known as the
“Italian Grand Canyon,” a road originally built by the Etruscans and later
expanded by the Romans. The route from Urbino to Furlo is mostly downhill
and passes through the Pietralata Enduro Bike Park, featuring numerous white
roads. For lunch at Dodo’s Taverna, we will enjoy the famous Crostolo di
Urbania, prepared according to the family tradition, preserved by Dodo’s
children.
KM 80 - MI 48 | MT 2673 - FT 8770
Today we explore the heart of the Marche, the green center of Italy,
with its network of white roads winding through hills and valleys. We
will ride the quiet, secluded roads of Monte Santa Maria, enjoying the
sense of freedom that comes from being truly immersed in nature. Once we
reach the top, we will be rewarded with breathtaking views all the way down
to the coast. Along the way, we will stop for a coffee in the picturesque
hilltop village of Mombaroccio, before returning to our base in the artistic
and historic city of Urbino.
KM 72 - MI 44 | MT 2080 - FT 6820
Today we ride through the national park of Monti delle Cesane,
up and down through the pine forest, with uninterrupted views on
the central Apennine Mountains. The park is quite large, and fairly quiet,
except on weekends when you will find mountain bikers, road bikers,
hikers and rock climbers enjoying the mountains and cliffs.
KM 75 - MI 46 | MT 2105 - FT 6900
Today we ride through the scenic Monte San Bartolo Regional Natural Park,
a stunning headland overlooking the Adriatic Sea between Gabicce and Pesaro.
Along the way, we will visit the Tenuta Carlini vineyard for a wine tasting,
sampling local sparkling whites and exceptional Sangiovese while learning
about traditional cultivation and production methods. The experience may
be so delightful that some might prefer to return to Urbino by minivan.
KM 65 - MI 40 | MT 1280 - FT 4200
